Did you know that Wedge Hybrid mouthpieces are made of synthetic tooth material? 

We 3D print these mouthpiece inserts using a medical grade certified biocompatible resin designed for the dental profession to print permanent crowns. The resin is 65% nano-ceramic particles, making it behave more like brass than plastic. 

Using medical grade certified biocompatible resin with a validated production flow is important because most 3D printing resins are not proven safe for prolonged contact with your mouth. It also means we pay $700 for one bottle of resin compared to about $30 for the regular stuff. 

The inserts are bonded to a brass outer cup and shank to produce a mouthpiece that is more comfortable than silver or gold plated brass, with a warmer, richer sound. It plays much better than an all plastic mouthpiece or an acrylic top on a brass backbore, with more point on the front of the note, better feedback and slotting, and a denser, more complex sound. 

We offer Hybrid mouthpieces in the Wedge design for all instruments, and also with traditional rims for trumpet in select popular sizes. Our optional angled feature is now only offered as a Hybrid mouthpiece, since it is the best way to produce the angled rim. The Chuck Findley mouthpiece with the 10 degree angle pictured is Chuck’s actual current mouthpiece. He converted from silver to Hybrid about 2 years ago.
