Trumpet Mouthpiece Overview

"I am very happy with the Wedge trumpet mouthpiece! After consulting with Dr. Dave, we found the perfect diameter mouthpiece, and I have been enjoying playing on this product for the last year. None of my other mouthpieces sound and feel so great to play, and I am so happy to have discovered Wedge products, and to Dr. Dave for his kind, helpful guidance. What a wonderful company, with their innovative and musical minds focused on the future of mouthpiece design! Bravo and thanks so much to all! - Nathaniel M."

Find the Right Mouthpiece - Match the Tool to the Job

  • For most players, a one-piece design offers the best balance of performance and simplicity.
  • We make nearly 40 different models with 7 rim diameters and 6 cups depths, however, most players will find exactly what they need from one of our top 15 sizes featured below.
  • For those wanting options our modular system allows you to fine-tune performance with interchangeable tops, backbores, and variable length backbores (VLB).
  • Materials include silver-plated brass and our Hybrid models, which combine a medical-grade ceramic polymer rim and cup liner with a brass base.
  • The Hybrid option is the most popular—offering a warmer sound, greater comfort, and better value.

"Your next mouthpiece safari should start right here....

Dave has designed an excellent product for brass players. I had asked the question on a couple different trumpet forums if the Wedge was good or gimmick. It is definitely NOT a gimmick, it is a great product. Dave helped me select the right size. There really was no acclimation time for me. I loved the new mouthpiece from the first moment I played it. Two weeks later I am still amazed. More range, more endurance, better articulation. What more could I want? Maybe great customer service and a 90 money back guarantee? Oh yeah, they have that covered too! Give Dr Dave a call and give the wedge a try. You’ll be glad you did! - Charles C"

The hybrid style is incredible, offering the comfort and consistency of a non-brass cup/rim with the brilliant sound of an all-brass mpc. "68MDV Trumpet Top and Standard Backbore - I've been using my new mouthpiece for just over three weeks now, and I'm very, very pleased. I was playing on a Bach 1.25C. Straight away I like the comfort of the Wedge, and felt I had better endurance and sound. Although I was happy playing on it pretty much straight off, I think it's taken me 2-3 weeks for it to feel natural on the chops, but I feel it's really settling in now; I think the Wedge design is helping me to use the corners much more effectively, and the upper register is starting to feel much more secure. Overall ... I'm delighted and I think it's highly likely I will be ordering some additional tops and backbores in due course. Many thanks! - David J."

"Excellent Mouthpiece - I ordered the 65 MDV after speaking with Dr. Dave. I previously played a Schilke 13C4. The "Wedge" was very easy to adapt to. I play in a Concert Band and a Jazz Band. I noticed that my endurance was increased and I didn't get the tired feeling in my chops after our long rehearsals. After my first time using my new mouthpiece in the band, My conductor (who I previously told I was getting the wedge) asked it I got it yet. When I told him I used it tonight for the first time, he told me that my tone sounded better. I am 59 years old and this is the band instructor that taught me how to play back in the 7th grade!. He is still playing and conducting our bands! I am very pleased with the Wedge and I use it as my number one mouthpiece. - Michael L."

"I had a consultation with Dr. Dave, and he gave me loads of useful information prior to my purchase. The mouthpiece I purchased (on his recommendation) is extremely comfortable. Immediately noticed that it was easier to play, my duration increased, and my high range was less strained. "77 years old and still blowing! - I've been playing trumpet for 68 years and played every style known to man! A friend of mine has bought a Wedge and tells me it has increased his endurance without compromising his range or his tone... So, I ordered the 63ES one-piece mouthpiece. Believe me, it is unique! ... My high range is back to big, fat and sassy! My tone is warm and round and, well, beautiful! It slots very well and I glide smoothly between notes and intervals are accurate and spot-on. The Wedge feels good on the lips and is a pleasure to play. My endurance? Let me just say that after my lip is shot...I still have what it takes for a considerable while longer. I love it! The only problem is, what to do with the other 27 mouthpieces I've accumulated over the years? I only need this ONE! - Bruce S"

If you play a Bach 7ish rim, I would highly recommend this as a commercial piece. I've found it easy to switch to a conventional rim if needed. (Although I've found I rarely need to:-) Thanks for this unique and quality product! Check out my reviews on the hybrid Ingram top and flugel mouthpiece! - Larry S"
