Wedge trumpet mouthpieces are designed to give players more control, greater endurance, and improved range—without sacrificing tone.

Configurations

  • We offer one piece or modular options.
  • Modular options include separate tops, backbores, and variable length backbores (VLB.)
  • One piece mouthpieces are the best option for most players.
  • Materials include silver plated brass and Hybrid mouthpieces, which consist of a medical grade ceramic polymer rim and cup liner bonded to a brass base.
  • Most players prefer the slightly warmer sound, greater comfort, and lower price of the Hybrid models.

Hybrid mouthpieces are available with an angled rim for players with a significant overbite.

RT cups

  • Slightly deeper and more V shaped than MDV.
  • Similar to Bach B cups.
  • Designed for Rotary trumpet, but work very well on piston trumpets.
  • Extra dark sound.

  • Most popular model for advanced amateur and professional players.

# 2 - 66MDV - For Players Wanting More Endurance

  • Wedge version of the Bach 5C, Schilke 14, and similar mouthpieces.
  • Slightly smaller alternative to the typical "orchestral" Bach 1-1/2C, .67 inch ID sizes.
  • Excellent choice for an advanced amatuer player or professional who wants the classic "orchestral" sound, but who has challenges with range and endurance.
  • Excellent choice for advancing students who are not yet ready for the 67MDV.
  • The The more efficient .66 inch rim gives most players better endurance than the .67 inch rim, while keeping a similar, dark, if slightly more compact sound.

# 3 - 665MDV - Splits the Difference between the 67MDV and 66MDV

  • The 665MDV is intended to fill that gap with an ID similar to a Bach 3C and a cup depth similar to a Bach 1.5C and 5C.
  • Great choice for a player wanting a sound similar to a Bach 1.5C, but with a slightly smaller, more efficient inner diameter.

# 4 - 68MDV- Larger Diameter for Players Using a Bach 1-1/4C

  • For players who prefer a larger mouthpiece than the typical Bach 1-1/2C.
  • Note: Many players using a mouthpiece this large can get better results choosing a 67MDV, which has the same cup depth but a slightly smaller diameter.

# 5 - 65MDV - Medium Rim Diameter for Maximum Efficiency

  • Some players want a dark sound but tire too quickly on the 66 and larger diameters.
  • The 65MDV is an excellent choice for better endurance and a slightly more focussed without sounding bright.
  • The 65MDV is similar to a Bach 10-1/2C, but with a deeper cup.
  • You can also think of it as a scaled down Bach 5C.

Preferred Sound

  • Players looking for an all around, versatile mouthpiece often prefer a balance between a slightly brighter sound in exchange for more support in the upper register.
  • A good exampe is the Bach 3C and similar sizes.
  • Not usually the preferred mouthpiece for the orchestra, but works well for concert band, pit and pops, jazz, marching, playing in a worship group, and even brass quintet.

  • General purpose mouthpieces rnange from medium to large diameters (.64 to .67 Inches) and medium cups.

MV cup - very similar to a Bach 3C cup depth.

  • Our most popular cup depth for all around use.
  • Especially popular with advanced amateurs and come - back players who need a multi tool for all types of playing.

#1 - Chuck Findley 66MV

  • The Chuck Findley 66MV plays like a really great 3C, but with a very slightly smaller diameter.
  • The 66MV is the most popular mouthpiece we sell.
  • Works well for many players in many playing situations.
  • This size is the "multitool" of mouthpieces.
  • Although not a typical choice for an orchestral setting or for playing lead, the 66MV can also be made to work for that type of playing.
  • Keep in mind that this particular "C" cup is not quite as deep as the Bach 1-1/2C, 5C, or 7C cup.

# 2 - 65MV

# 3 - 665MV

  • Most similar to the Bach 3C.
  • Cup depth slightly shallower than the Bach 1.5C and Bach 5C, and B7C.
  • Slightly brighter sound more support in the upper register than the 1.5C/5C and Wedge 665MDV.
  • Great all round mouthpiece for a wide variety of applications.
  • Sound is a bit bright for an orchestral setting, depending on the player's natural sound and sound preferences.
  • Very well suited to situations where a bit more efficiency and projection is desired, such as concert band, brass quintet, marching, and jazz band.

# 4 - 64MV

  • Very versatile mouthpiece with a small diameter and medium cup depth similar to a Bach 10.5C and Bach 3C.

  • Also an excellent piccolo trumpet mouthpiece.

#5 - 67MV

  • Fills the need for a large diameter mouthpiece with a medium cup depth.
  • This is the shallowest cup we make in the .67 inch diameter.

Perferred Sound

  • Lead players generally like a bright sound with edge and projection.

Suitable Diameters

  • Diameters range from small to medium.
  • These smaller diameters provide better endurance for sustained upper register playing.

ES Cup

  • Similar to Schilke 6A4A or 13A4A cup.
  • Provides maximum brilliance, projection, and slotting.

LV Cup

  • Double cup design with a shallow upper cup and a second deeper V cup.
  • Upper register performance of the LV is very similar to the Wedge S cup.
  • More open blow, similar to what players would experience with a larger #25 throat.
  • Players prone to bottoming out on shallow mouthpieces might find this too shallow.

S Cup

  • Most popular choice for lead when a solid mid to low register is also desired.Similar to a Schilke 14A4A cup.
  • Excellent projection, slightly less support in upper register than the ES cup.
  • Less prone to bottoming out than the ES cup.
  • Works well for piccolo trumpet when players prefer a brighter sound.

  • Excellent lead mouthpiece for a player using a medium diameter and shallow cup.
  • It is slightly deeper than the Schilke A cup or GR S cup and has a better low register.

#5 - Roger Ingram 64MS

  • Roger's all around commercial lead Wedge model.
  • Inner diameter of .64 inches in the vertical axis measured at .04 inches into the cup.

  • Rim is slighty less wide than the regular Gen 2 rim.
