The Gen 2 JG27D tuba mouthpiece is one of three custom mouthpieces developed for the internationally renowned tubist James Gourlay. It is based on Wedge version of a Wick 3, and is similar to our 28D, but with a slightly smaller ID and deeper cup.
The JG27D cup produces a huge sound with a very even response in all registers.
Wedge Gen 2 mouthpieces have a second generation Wedge design that incorporates elements from our highly successful Gen 2 high brass rim. They have an accentuated oval rim shape that extends right down to the base of the cup. This unique oval cup shape amplifies the effect of the Wedge rim, providing greater responsiveness and more core to the sound compared to a conventional round cup of similar depth and volume.
