I ordered the MDV and S tops to try and quickly realized that I will be fully switching over to Wedge mouthpieces. They have improved both high and low registers, tone, and endurance along with feeling more comfortable on the lips and engaging the corners more naturally. Review of our 64MD Trumpet Top
I have been using the Wedge mouthpieces exclusively well into 2 years now. Primarily I use a 65MD but for long gigs with difficult material I often switch to a 64MD if my lips are getting tired. I am 84 years old, a comeback player since 2016 and struggled with a variety of mouthpiece brands and sizes but endurance and range remained a problem. Then a friend recommended the Wedge and everything changed. First of all, it was the most comfortable mp I have ever played. There was an immediate change in my endurance ( from a tough 60 minutes to a much easier 90 minutes ). Everything just started to work better. I have played some of my old mps now and then but they just don't measure up to the Wedge. And Dr. Dave is a great guy to work with. Highly recommended. -George B
